Exploring Ancient Ohio through Its Rich Fossil Record

Thursday, July 2, 2026 (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Dr. Peg Yacobucci (School of Earth, Environment, and Society at Bowling Green State University) will take us back in time to explore two fascinating intervals in Ohio’s geologic past. First, we’ll go snorkeling in the Silurian and Devonian periods to investigate the marine life that thrived in Ohio long before the time of the dinosaurs. Then we’ll zip forward in time to the Ice Age and meet the large mammals that called Ohio home more than 10,000 years ago. Dr. Peg will also bring local fossils for everyone to view and can help identify fossils that audience members would like to bring in.
