Meadow Green Memorial Park & Cemetery "Flags and Flowers" Program
Tuesday, November 11, 2025 (4:00 PM - 5:00 PM) (EST)
Description
This Veteran’s Day, Meadow Green Memorial Park and Cemetery is participating in the “Veterans Flags and Flowers” Tour: A mission started 10 years ago by, then 10-year-old, Preston Sharpe to honor veterans in all 50 states with the placement of an American flag and red carnation.
Volunteers from local organizations, area schools, scout troops, and community members will work alongside the Groff Family Services staff to place a red carnation and flag for the over 2,500 veterans buried or entombed at Meadow Green, including multiple Purple Heart recipients and President Dwight Eisenhower’s chauffeur.
Sharpe, of California, founded the non-profit Veterans Flags and Flowers after visiting his local cemetery to honor his late grandfather, stunned to witness the graves of veterans without a flag on Veterans Day. In 2022, Meadow Green was selected by Sharpe to serve as Ohio’s State Event Coordinator for the Tour where Sharpe and local veterans and volunteers placed over 2,300 flags and flowers.
To date, over a million flags and flowers have been placed by Sharpe’s Tour.
All are welcome to attend without RSVP.
