The Impact You'll Make

As our Development Director, you’ll be the architect of our fundraising strategy and the storyteller who inspires donors to invest in our mission. You’ll lead initiatives that not only meet revenue goals but also deepen relationships with supporters, partners, and the community. Your work will directly translate into more lives impacted, more programs launched, and financial stability.

What You'll Do

• Design and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, capital campaigns, and annual giving campaigns.
• Grant research, proposal writing, and management, with the ability to identify opportunities and build strong relationships with foundations and funding organizations to maximize grant opportunities.
• Work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities, while also working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and board members.
• Show professionalism and enthusiasm by becoming involved in the Sandusky County community and developing relationships with businesses, community leaders, organizations, and potential donors throughout the region.
• Work effectively with the Executive Director and Membership Coordinator, and serve as the staff lead for the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees.
• Donor recruitment activities, including the execution of direct mail solicitations and special donor events.
• Research, cultivate, and build relationships with high-value donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors, including State and Federal funding opportunities.
• Lead the planning, sponsorship, and execution of signature fundraising events, from concept to post-event.
• Collaborate with the Marketing & Communication staff to craft compelling donor communications, impact reports, fundraising, and campaign materials
• Coordinate with the programming staff to secure funding for events and programs.
• Track and analyze fundraising metrics and donor giving records to inform strategy and report progress to leadership and the board. 
• Schedule donor visits and arrange to accompany donors on private tours of the museum and home.      

What You'll Bring

• Fundraising experience, with a proven track record in securing major gifts and managing donor portfolios.
• Knowledge in researching and applying for grant opportunities.
• A self-starter with strong relationship-building skills and the ability to inspire trust and enthusiasm.
• Experience with donor management systems.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills—able to craft a compelling case for support.
• Strategic thinking paired with hands-on execution skills.
• A passion for our mission and a commitment to ethical, donor-centered fundraising.
• Ability to build on the strong development program that is already in place.
