Position Summary
GSP is seeking a motivated Economic Development Intern to support GSP’s mission to drive economic development and investment across the region under the Chief Development Officer. This is a hands-on opportunity for a rising junior or senior (first- and second-year students also considered) to gain real-world experience in economic development projects and regional partnerships that support real estate and infrastructure initiatives, Port Authority programs, and investment attraction efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Project Research & Analysis
- Assist with research related to potential development projects, site readiness, housing initiatives, and economic development opportunities
Investment Attraction Support:
- Help compile information for companies, developers, and site selectors evaluating opportunities in the region, including data on available sites, workforce, and incentives.
Port Authority Support
- Assist with preparation of meeting materials, board packets, and background research related to Port Authority financing programs and development projects.
Data & Reporting
- Support tracking of project activity, development pipeline updates, and preparation of internal reports or presentations.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, the selected candidate will gain exposure to
- Real estate and infrastructure development projects
- Economic development incentive programs and financing tools
- Collaboration with local governments, developers, and regional economic development organizations

Qualifications
- Junior or senior preferred
- Pursuing a degree in Public Policy, Planning, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong research, writing, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Schedule & Work Environment
- Internship runs May 27-July 24, 2026
- Approximately 30 hours per week (flexible scheduling available)
- Some evening event coverage may be required
- Business casual dress typical; event days may vary
- Position based in-person in Sandusky, Ohio
Compensation
- Paid internship (hourly rate commensurate with experience)
