Position Summary
GSP is seeking a motivated Marketing & Communications Intern to support summer marketing initiatives under the Director of Marketing & Creative Services. This is a hands-on opportunity for a rising junior or senior (first- and second-year students also considered) to gain real-world experience in business communications, regional marketing, and economic development storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
Writing & Content Development:
- Assist with drafting press releases, blog posts, and member spotlights
- Help write social media captions and promotional content
- Update webpages and upload blog posts
Social Media Management:
- Support content creation for Facebook and LinkedIn
- Monitor engagement and contribute to analytics reporting
- Support campaign development tied to events, announcements and programs
Email Marketing:
- Assist with monthly newsletters and targeted email campaigns
- Draft and format event invitations and promotional blasts
- Support list management and performance tracking
Visual Content Creation:
- Capture photography/video at events and programs when necessary
- Help edit short-form videos for social media or website use
Graphic Design:
- Create social media graphics and marketing materials using Canva
- Support design projects aligned with GSP brand standards
Strategic Marketing Support:
- Follow and contribute to GSP’s content calendar
- Assist in campaign planning and execution
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, the selected candidate will:
- Understand how marketing supports regional chamber operations and economic development
- Build a professional portfolio of published writing, social campaigns and visual content
- Gain experience working with brand guidelines and multi-platform marketing systems
- Develop project management skills
- Mentorship and hands-on experience

Qualifications
- Junior or senior preferred
- Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Graphic Design or another related field
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms and trends
- Canva proficiency; Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus
- Experience with WordPress or other website CMS preferred
- Organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects
Schedule & Work Environment
- Internship runs May 27-July 24, 2026
- Approximately 20-30 hours per week (flexible scheduling available)
- Some evening event coverage may be required
- Business casual dress typical; event days may vary
- Position based in-person in Sandusky, Ohio
Compensation
- Paid internship (hourly rate commensurate with experience)
