The Product Specialist function is designed to grow sales revenues, relationships, and increase market share and goodwill on behalf of The Chef’s Garden, Inc.

While every day on the farm can look a little different, here are the main responsibilities this role will be expected to execute: 

  • Provide ongoing sales and customer service support to both existing and assigned accounts and new and expanding accounts.
  • Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within schedule.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of The Chef’s Garden product assortment and seasonal variations through department meetings, marketing materials, product specialists, product managers, growers, and the internet.
  • Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction
  • Reach out to customer leads through cold calling.
  • Develop sales techniques to build rapport and effective business relationships with the customer, assess product needs, offer additional product suggestions (upselling), and effectively communicate services (shipping options) and customer complaints.
  • Suggest changes that will best serve our customers or improve productivity
  • Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
  • Identify appropriate sales contact strategy, time of day, and call frequency for each account.
  • Provide insights into customer behavior and ongoing account needs.
  • Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends
  • Perform any other duties necessary to meet job responsibilities and the success and profitability of The Chef’s Garden, Inc
